Do you display banners adverts or pop-up windows on my website ?
No. We want your visitors to enjoy visiting your site.
I already have a domain registered. Can you host it for me ?
No problem. We'll give you all the details you need once your site has been set up.
What is a nameserver ?
Your domain name has to refer to a unique Internet address, also known as IP address. This address can be looked up in Domain Name System (DNS) records. The machine that hold the master DNS records for a domain is known as a nameserver.
How long after ordering will it be before my web space is activated ?
Site activation is performed automatically when your payment is received. If you pay by PayPal using your credit/debit card or PayPal balance this will be immediately. If you pay by PayPal eCheck it will take about 5 days for the payment to clear. If your site has not been activated within 1 hour of purchasing, please create a Support Ticket to let us know.

How do I change my nameservers ?
Your domain will have been registered by a domain registrar. You'll need to ask them how to change the nameservers for your domain. Many registrars have "control panel" configuration of the domain, which will probably allow you to make nameserver changes yourself. If your domain is registered with Z-Host, you can change your nameservers on the domain registration details page.

Help - I've lost my cPanel or FTP password. What should I do ?
You can change your password at the Domain Details page.
Can I have telnet/ssh access to your servers ?
Telnet access is never allowed since it can pose a security risk. SSH access can usually be granted on request once you have been hosting with us for 3 months.
How can I change file permissions ("chmod") my files?
Some FTP clients have ",chmod", features, which you can use - check the documentation for your FTP client.

Alternatively, you can use the cPanel file manager to change file permissions:

  • Login to cPanel and click on the ",File Manager", icon.
  • Click on the folder icons to navigate to the correct folder, then click on the name of the file that you want to change the permissions of.
  • Click ",Change Permissions", and set the permissions. For cgi-bin scripts you should have 755 permission (all 3 boxes on the ",Read", and ",Execute", rows checked and only the first box on the ",Write", row checked).
  • Click ",Change", to save the permissions.

  CGI and Scripts (PHP/Perl)
What is the system path to my cgi-bin or public_html directory ?
  /home/cPanelUserName/public_html/cgi-bin and /home/cPanelUserName/public_html
(replace cPanelUserName with your cPanel user name)
What is the path to PERL ?
/usr/bin/perl (The first line of your PERL script should be : #!/usr/bin/perl)
What is the path to sendmail ?
  /usr/sbin/sendmail
When I try to view my cgi-bin scripts in a web browser I get the message ",Internal error 500",. What does this mean ?
It normally means that the permissions are not set correctly on your files. To run a cgi-bin file, the ",Execute", permission must be set, and the file must not be writable by all. Also the directory containing the cgi-bin script must not be writable by all. See the next question for details of how to do this.
